Registration

According to the law ("About Migration Registration of Foreign Citizens and Persons without Citizenship in Russian Federation" N 109, from July 18, 2006), which came into force on the 15th of January 2007, all foreigners are supposed to register within 3 days of arrival.

When checking in to the hotel, be ready to give the hotel manager the filled in blank of Migration Card (“Arrival Notification of Foreign Citizen to the place of Destination") and your passport with the Russian visa.

Your passport, visa and migration card will be scanned and returned to you alongside the so-called “Uvedomlenie” – a document filled in, signed and stamped by the hotel manager. Here is the sample of “Uvedomlenie”:

The registration service is not included in room price, since for the foreigners staying at the “Acme” hotel less than 3 days and for our Russian guests, it’s not obligatory. If registration is required, it should be extra paid upon arrival.

Please, note:

• that visa registration must be done every time
• the person enters Russia or changes the place of stay in Russia.
• registration of your visa after 3 working days after your arrival leads to penalties
• the procedures and requirements for registration can vary in different regions of Russia
• if the visa was not registered the person will by fined by the Russian customs officials on exit.
